  2. GENOCIDE • the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.

  3. TARGETS • The group(s) of people who are harmed by acts of genocide.

  4. PERPETRATORS • The ones who plan, incite or encourage acts of genocide.

  5. HENCHMEN • The ones who carry out the physical acts of genocide.

  6. ONLOOKERS • Parties outside of the place where genocide is occurring, have knowledge of the events and the ability to intervene, but refrain from doing so.

  7. BYSTANDERS • Parties present where the genocide is taking place, but choose not to act or get involved.

  8. RESCUERS • The person(s) that put a stop to the acts of genocide.

  9. METHODS USED • ACTS committed with intent to destroy the target group:a) Killing members of the group

b) Causing serious PHYSICAL or MENTAL harm to members of the group

c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group

e) Targeting children or forcibly transferring children of the group to another group
