  1. Time Collaborative Grant What is It & How It could Effect Sweeney School Presentation to Sweeney School Governance Council October 17, 2013

  2. Our Time Collaborative Committee • Angela Kiss (Principal) • Katie Firth (IC) • Jan McKusick (3rd Grade Teacher) • Robin Steele (2nd Grade Teacher) • Annemarie Miller (K-Teacher/SGC Member) • Becky Martin (Special Ed. Teacher) • Jan Tomanelli (Tech./Gifted & Talented Teacher) • Adele Lanza (Special Ed. Teacher/SGC Member)

  3. This is an EXPLORATORY Process • We are simply gathering data and ideas on what a new school day might be like. At This Time : • NO decision has been made to expand the school day • NO decision has been made on exactly what a new school day would look like.

  4. What We Learned in Sessions 1&2 • Extended learning time for students can be done without extended school day for teachers • Enrichment opportunities for students will be supported through community members. • This is a collaborative process. Your input is key. • Keep an open mind and be creative!

  5. ProposedPlanning Process Timeline • Schools implement ELT plans • Continued TA coaching • Districts monitor school performance

  6. Defining Our Instructional Focus

  7. Our Instructional Focus All Sweeney students will show measureable growth in their ability to respond to what they read, hear and see: orally and in writing. All Sweeney staff will collaborate to implement a common, consistent set of teaching strategies to support this learning. We will measure our students’ growth by the DRA2, LAS Links, NWEA/MAP and a rubric based on the Common Core for Speaking.

  8. Targeted Intervention, Acceleration & Enrichment For All Students have varying needs within the classroom Targeted Intervention allows for students to receive the added support they need IN ADDITION TO core curriculum. Accelerationallows for students mastering the curriculum to receive additional challenge. *ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITES*
