  2. Summary of plot/ storyline • ALONE • Young woman (female connects vulnerability) receives boxes of her recently passed grandmother (things she has left her) with a note, she is unpacking the boxes, and she pulls out an antique doll and places it on the side, But each time she looks it seems to have moved slightly, paranoid she constantly hears things and keeps turning around, on edge. • She goes to bed, trying to convince herself she is just paranoid, but she wakes up suddenly due to creepy doll music playing in the distance. Jumping up she ventures towards the kitchen, turns the light on and sees a creepy doll sat on the table, with a bloody knife in her hand. • She turns the light off and on again, and finds that the doll disappears…

  3. Setting • A young womans home – apartment • Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom,

  4. characters • Young woman and doll

  5. Camera/editing SHOT IDEAS: • Contrapuntal music playing as woman is making some toast in the kitchen, the camera pans from the window to see that it is raining(pathetic fallacy)back to where we can see the back of her, there are three loud knocks on the door as the camera tilts upwards to the back of her head and she swings around to a close up, looking on edge and panicked. • POV shot/eyeline match of when she first pulls the doll out from the box after reading the note describing the doll and how she needs to ‘BE CAREFUL!’ with her, the camera focuses on these words on the paper and track towards the box following the woman's hands as she lifts the doll in the air to her eye level. She stares at the dolls eyes and the shot reverse shows this. the woman's facial expressions connote that she is creeped out so she drops the doll back in the box and goes to sort through different boxes instead, she turns and the doll is sat on the counter smiling behind her – a two-shot shows this as the woman is focusing on something else and doesn’t realise.

  6. sound • Radio playing at the start, contrapuntal music to what is coming. • Over the radio sounds of rain(pathetic fallacy)is heard. • This mellow, happy, music continues as the boxes are unpacked until she goes to bed where only the sounds of her getting ready for bed are heard (such as brushing her teeth, etc.) to build a creepy suspense. • Then the doll music is heard and crescendos as she moves towards the kitchen.

  7. Mis-en-scene • Normal day-to-day clothes for the woman • Old antique baby clothes for the doll • Facial expressions of the woman change dramatically from the start to the end as the doll completely flips her emotions and causes her stress and panic.

  8. Title ideas • Arabella • Alone • Matilda • Creepy doll names… • Paranoid • Turn Around
