  1. Year 9 International Business Enterprise Project

  2. British Airways e Iberia alcanzan un acuerdo de fusión British Airways-Iberia merger to bring world closer for their customers British Airways closes in on Iberia merger

  3. Willie Walsh, CEO British Airways

  4. BA and Iberia agree merger deal Thursday, 12 November 2009 British Airways and Spanish airline Iberia say they have reached a preliminary agreement for a merger expected to be completed in late 2010.The merger would create the world's third biggest airline.

  5. Task 1: Design a new logo to represent the newly formed airline “British Iberia Airways”. This must be presented on A3 paper using colours. The logo needs to be instantly recognisable as it will be placed on all planes. Task 2: Produce a mini radio/tv advertisement, no longer than 2 minutes, which advertises and celebrates the new airline. You must use a combination of Spanish and English language in your sound bite. This will be presented to the rest of your tutor group.

  6. Each member of your tutor group will receive a voting slip to decide on the best advert and poster. The winning group will then go forward to the regional final day. Don’t forget to give yourself a team name!

  7. British Airways is a full service global airline, offering year-round low fares with an extensive global route network flying to and from centrally-located airports. It is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and is the largest airline in the UK based on international destinations. BA prides itself on its excellent facilities and level of service. It offers high-tech in-flight entertainment systems and large seats to relax in. Its first class service includes cabin beds, in seat power for lap tops and personal phones. Iberia is Spain’s largest air transport group and the fourth-largest in Europe. It is also the leading airline on routes between Europe and Latin America, with the most flights and destinations. It flies to more than 100 destinations all over the world and it offers the largest number of flights and destinations from Spain to Europe and from Europe to Latin America. It offers its service in 41 Spanish airports. Willie Walsh is Director of British Airways Antonio Vázquez is Director of Iberia

  8. British Airways and Iberia – Year 9 International Enterprise Competition Voting Form. You must vote for your favourite team using the forms below. You cannot vote for your own team! The group that I am recommending for the Regional Final is…..(name of team and tutor group) The reasons I have chosen this team is because…(you must refer to the logo and advertisement) I believe that they have demonstrated good International Business skills because…(consider how they worked as a team, their use of language and creativity)

  9. Potential benefits of this merger – notes for tutors • BA passengers will have at their disposal 54 new destinations, 13 of them in South America • Iberia customers will have access to 98 new routes • More frequent flights • Better connections • More competitive prices • Unites one company that is strong in North America, Asia and Africa with one that is strong in Latin America (very complementary) • The economies of scale will enable the company to withstand the current economic downturn
