TCDL – Jose Borbinha: Election • Election for next chair (a member of IEEE-CS) in process, for 2 year term, starting July • To submit a nomination, please send an email with your CV and your position statement (500 words on average for each case) to the Nominating Committee, before the end of the day of 27 of June): fox@vt.edu, jlb@ist.utl.pt, erich.neuhold@univie.ac.at • Nominations so far: • Richard Furuta, Texas A&M University • Rudi Schmiede, Darmstadt U. of Technology

JCDL 2010 Awards • Committee of 5 studied final versions of papers identified based on PC nominations and ranking • Vannevar Bush Best Paper Award: David Bamman, Alison Babeu, and Gregory Crane: Transferring Structural Markup Across Translations Using Multilingual Alignment and Projection • Best Student Paper: Xiao Hu & J. Stephen Downie: Improving Mood Classification in Music Digital Libraries by Combining Lyrics and Audio

  5. JCDL 2011 • Ottawa, Canada • June 13-17 • Glen Newton, general chair • Michael Wright, program chair • Volunteers are welcome to assist in a variety of roles in the conference committee • Suggestions welcome for topics and related experts to help broaden the program

  6. JCDL 2012 • Formal proposals due August 1 to fox@vt.edu • Seems to be interest in locating this on the East Coast of USA • Comments, nominations, etc. are welcome!

  7. JCDL 2013 • Formal proposals due Jan. 1 to fox@vt.edu • Emails of intent due Sept. 1 • Seems to be interest in locating this on the West Coast of USA • But other offers, nominations are welcome!

  8. JCDL 2014 • Preliminary proposals due May 2011 to fox@vt.edu • Location: TDB • Discussions are underway with regard to co-location or other collaborations with related conferences and workshops. • Comments, nominations, etc. are welcome!

  9. Other Business • Second Life poster buildings will be extended with the posters from JCDL 2010. • Future of the DL community? • Connections with related communities – how? • Workshops at JCDL meetings? • Other?
