  2. Imagine you are Mary or one of Jesus’ disciples. What would you be thinking about ,the day after Jesus died? How would you spend the day? Say what your character is. 3. Should you wait in hope? As you are pondering on the events that happened, you remember some of the things Jesus said while still alive.. 1. Look up two of the 3 references. Write it out. Then explain what it is saying. Matthew 12:40 Mark 8:31 Mark 10:34 **What might make you think it could come true? • Matthew 12:40 “For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” “Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, be killed, and rise after three days.” Mark 8:31 • Mark 10:34 • “And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.”

  4. The last part of Jesus’ mission: “He descended into hell” Jesus descended to the realm of the dead as Saviour, to free those who had died, and were waiting for him. On Holy Saturday we remember how Jesus did this. Christ went down into the depths of death so that "the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.“ Jn5:25 Explain what else Christians are waiting for on Holy Saturday **Draw Jesus going down to the dead. Speech bubble what he would say to the dead spirits, who were waiting for him.

HW: The Easter Vigil • Google search “bbc religions holy week”http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/holydays/holyweek_1.shtml • Scroll down to where it says “holy Saturday” then “easter vigil service” • Answer the questions: • What is the idea behind the Easter vigil service • How does it start? • Why is the candle so important? • Draw what a paschal candle looks like, and add the markings it has on it.
