  2. Unit 1: Prepare Desktop This unit provides instruction and suggestions on how to prepare your computer desktop prior to recording screen captures with Camtasia Studio 8 software.

  3. Rationale What’s In It For Me (WIIFM), you say? • Q: Why are these skills important to instruction librarians? • A: What you will learn in this unit will help you to produce quality videos. You will learn how to maximize your desktop so you will have a clean, solid, attractive background for your video tutorials that will not be distracting to patrons.

  4. Learning Objectives Given access to a computer and a checklist, you will prepare your desktop with 100% accuracy as determined by an assessment rubric. To accomplish this objective, you will be able to perform the following with 100% accuracy: • Close unnecessary applications already open on the computer desktop • Move excess icons on the desktop to a folder • Select a plain background for screen recordings
