  4. Relationships • Each relationship link will have a 1 side One-Side -- top of the relationship line Cardinality unknown -- bottom of the relationship line (round circle) • Only 1:M or 1:1 relationships • All Many to Many (M:N) relationships must be connected though an associative entity

  5. Relationships • Create dynamic links so when you move the entity the relationship will be maintained • While you are establishing the relationship, the entities will turn RED when the relationship line is connected to it. • The ends of the relationship line will appear red to indicate the line is dynamically connected to both entities.

  6. Establish the cardinality of unknown side Name the link Relationships

  7. Relationships • Select “identifying relationship” if the primary key of one entity is needed as foreign primary key of the other Order_ID is automatically included as a foreign, primary key in ORDERLINE

  8. Relationships • When you establish a relationship, the primary key of one entity is automatically included as a foreign key of the other. • You can choose not to show the foreign key in the diagram by changing Database/Options/Document
