  1. How to NOT fail this class! By Doug Orwig, Business & Information Systems Adjunct FacultyIllinois Central College

  2. Read the Book! • You will be responsible for everything in the book • We will not arrange our chairs in a circle for story time! • I will indicate in Blackboard any topics in the book I do not want you to read and/or know.

  3. Attend Class • Class time is the time to ask questions about material covered in the book • Class time will be spent covering topics and concepts not covered in the book • Class time will be provided to work on labs and other assignments

  4. Participate in Class • A portion of your grade will be based on participation in class • Pop Quizzes are given in class • Scores from pop quizzes = Extra Credit points! • Surfing/Chatting/Instant Messaging will hurt your grade • You will lose points (5 Points for each offense!)

  5. Check Blackboard Often • Class Schedule • Assignment due dates • Resources • Exercise files • Links to web sites • Online Discussions • Ask questions & get answers

  6. Do Your Work • Turn Assignments in on Time • Late assignments will decrease your grade • 1 week late - drop one letter grade • 2 weeks late – drops two letter grades • Do you see a pattern developing here?

  7. Do Your Work • Take Tests • You have 1 week to arrange to make up the test • Every week after 1 week drops your grade • 1 week = 1 letter grade • 2 weeks = 2 letter grades • Its déjà vu all over again!

  8. Aim High • At least 60% = D • At least 70% = C • At least 80% = B • At least 90% = A
