  1. How to Stop Bleeding Gums When Brushing

  2. Stop Bleeding Gums When Brushing • Most of us will experience bleeding gums when we brush our teeth during our lifetime. Bleeding gums are extremely common. • More than half the population have experienced some form of bleeding gums while brushing their teeth in the last year alone. • It is important to note that bleeding gums are one of the first signs of gum disease and should act as a red flag that something needs to change in our daily oral health routine. We should not take it for granted. We should not ignore it, instead, we should work to make sure we help stop bleeding gums when we brush our teeth.

  3. Here are some Important Tips on How to Stop Bleeding Gums When We Brush:

  4. Lead a Healthy Lifestyle • Working towards living a healthy lifestyle may not be easy but it is important not just for bleeding gums but for your overall health as well. • A healthy diet is crucial for our mouth to function properly. Avoid junk foods and other processed foods as much as possible. • Avoid smoking and drinking too much alcohol. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to help boost your immune system.

  5. Brush Your Teeth Properly • Brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes is the ideal time to take care of your teeth. Make sure you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste. • This will help protect against other oral diseases and help make your teeth strong. Brushing your teeth is important because it removes plaque. • If the plaque isn't removed, it can potentially lead to tooth decay and even gum disease.

  6. Use Floss • Flossing your teeth is another important component of a good oral health routine.  • This is because a toothbrush cannot get in between our teeth like a floss can. • It’s important to get into these hard-to-reach areas which a toothbrush cannot reach, otherwise, pockets of plaque may build up, potentially causing problems for our teeth and gums.

  7. Rinse Your Mouth with Salt Water • Rinsing your mouth with salt water can help reduce bacteria and stop bleeding gums. • Simply add half a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth for a few seconds. • Using sea salt is better since it is a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory that for thousands of years has been used in wound cleansing.

  8. Visit your Dentist • It is important to regularly visit your dentist especially if you experience bleeding gums when brushing your teeth. • Your dentist can recommend other ways to help you take care of your teeth and gums. • Your dentist can check your overall oral health and help fix your teeth if you have any problems.
