  1. Welcome to Back-to-School Night!2019-2020 Mrs. Deredita– Room 22 Third Grade- 3D Please take a minute to read your child’s letter. There is extra letter paper for you to write a quick note back to your child as well!

  2. Meet Mrs. Deredita • This is my 8th year teaching in Howell • 4th year at Ardena teaching 3rd grade

  3. 3D’s Class Schedule • We begin our day by following an agenda when we enter the classroom. We also have a morning meeting to begin our day! • Math Workshop (3D)/Reading (3F) • Science/SS (3D)*/Writer’s Workshop (3F) • Lunch • Reader’s Workshop (3D)/Math Workshop (3F) • Recess/Specials • Writer’s Workshop (3D)/Science/SS (3F) *there is an occasional Special during the morning

Classroom Expectations Mission Statement: We the Feredita’s promise to be respectful, helpful and responsible leaders!  • Students are responsible for monitoring their own behavior throughout the day. • Positive choices are celebrated through praise, positive reinforcement, individual tickets, and class marbles. • Respect Contract

  5. How Do We Use Fix It Tickets In Our Classroom? Everyone makes a mistake sometimes. We all deserve a moment to take a break and fix our mistake. If a break doesn’t help and the behavior continues, a fix it ticket will help students reflect on their behavior. When a “fix-it” ticket is filled out, depending on severity, additional strategies will be implemented, such as a phone call home to discuss behavior.

  6. HOW TO FILL OUT A TICKET: Explain the mistake you made. List three things you will do to fix your mistake. Sign your name and bring the ticket to me.

EnVision Math Topics include: Place Value, Multi-Digit Addition/Subtraction, Multiplication, Fractions, Measurement and Data, Time, and Shape Attributes (plus more) Main Focus: • Fact Fluency- practice addition/subtraction, multiplication/division math facts nightly! Xtra Math is great for fact practice on the computer. • Problem Solving- Analyzing and solving complex word problems • Modeling and Reasoning, explaining your work. • Building Number Sense and applying to higher level thinking • Math Workshop • Mini-lesson: 2 small groups • Schoology/Independent work/Teacher centered: 4 small groups

  10. Science/Social Studies/Health • Science and Social Studies Units of Study • Communities, Human Geography, Citizens and Government, Expressions of Culture • Weather/Climate, Forces/Motion, Traits and Heredity, Changes in the Environment, Living Things

  11. Homework- “Home Learning” • Please check your child’s Home Learning Agenda/Planner for daily assignments/messages. • On a typical day the students will be asked to read for 20 minutes and complete a fluency choice board assignment for Math. • No homework on Fridays! 

  12. Class Parties & Field Trip • Parent Volunteers are needed to help out at parties and join us on our field trip. A sign up sheet with exact dates will be sent home soon. • Four parties: Halloween, Winter Festival, Spring Fling, and End of the Year • Party activities include a craft, a game, a book
