  5. Why This Study The heart is at the foundation of everything we do • Prov. 4:23 • Obviously not the blood pump • The seat of our intellect, emotions, attitudes, thoughts and will • Without it – life is vain (cf. 1 Cor. 13:1-3)

  6. Why This Study Our need to be close to God • Matt. 5:8 – to see God • Psa. 15:1-2 dwelling in His presence depends upon a godly heart (cf. Psa. 24:3-5) • Does He dwell in us? Eph. 3:17, Rom. 8:11, Jn. 14:23

  7. Why This Study The heart has a direct bearing on how we treat each other as brethren • 1 Pet. 1:22 • If our heart is right, we will properly care about and for one another

  8. Why This Study If we desire to win others to Christ, it begins with a pure heart • The way we influence the world will correlate to the quality of our hearts • Matt. 5:13-16

  9. Why This Study A pure heart will cause us to live to be a positive influence within our environment • We need purity of heart in our homes, at work, in the community and within the church.

  10. Why This Study A pure heart is an important element in our security as Christians • God despises the hypocrite! • It can make us more sure of our salvation, etc. • Prov. 17:3,Jer. 17:10, 1 Thess. 2:4 – He tests our hearts
