  3. Origins • Founded by Nestor Cerpa, Victor Polay, and Miguel Rincon • Students at University • Became disgruntled with the corrupt government

  4. Objectives • Expose corrupt government officials • Reform the government • Create a new society • Create a new political party

  5. Doctrine • Wrote a manifesto in 1983, outlining their main principles and beliefs • Believed in leftist, Marxist, and anti-imperialist ideologies • Ideas were similar to those of Cuban revolutionaries • Wanted to abolish the current political and economic institutions • Tried to use nonviolent methods in achieving their goals
