  1. Plans for 3 MeV summer run • Autopilot • Debugging • Regulation of power • 2MHz amplifier • Verifications and tests • Cesiation system (discrete and continuous) • Verifications and tests • Steering studies including • Solenoid polarity (4 combinations) • Steerers(asked EPC to lift the software veto) AL – this meeting 10/07/2019 G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  2. Issues 3 MeV run (5-23 August) : some of the issues encountered so far .. Timing : “The PSB injection timing FEC as well as the LN4 main trigger FEC were completely refactored during the June 2-week stop for the LN4-PSB connection. Modules and devices were added, removed, reordered. The LTIM FESA class is also producing OR signals between adjacent outputs of a CTR, by directing the counter outputs to various module outputs. Unfortunately the LTIM persistency files were not updated to correspond to the new required configuration, resulting in, for instance, signals like the tail-clipper were not received, even if the working-sets were showing an acquisition (the device output being redirected to the wrong module output). The whole configuration was corrected today. No cabling errors observed.” (ikozsar, 07/08) FGCsnot ready exceptions, debugging ongoing L4L steerers/solenoids electronics upgrade to allow for automatic polarity control : HW validation achieved as well as cycling, but dynamic performance needs to be improved. Migration foreseen for Monday August 26th Source: Discrete cesiation done on 13/08, top-up last Friday – Ok HT bias power supply problem, circuit breaker reset (09/08) Source RF amplifier tube replaced (12/08) G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  3. Issues Control samplers not working and no logging of signals in Timber : new XenericSampler version installed during the weekend 10-11/08 with wrong Linac4 description files, eventually fixed by BE-CO – we were blind to source operation, and no cesiation possible in these conditions! RF: RFQ timings adjusted, occasional RFQ trips Chopper: Driver unit replaced with spare. Tail monitoring problem on plates 3-4: 8 us jitter observed on L4X.STOPCHOPPER timing, sometimes falling after amplifier timeout- Timing advanced by specialist by 10us as temporary fix to allow operation. To be followed up. BI L4L wire scanners : L4L.BWS3712 motorization problem fixed during an access. OP GUI recompiled. Scan settings and ranges to be re-tested. G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  4. Activities Autopilot Modules being developed and tested : current regulation in LEBT/MEBT (source current regulation acting on power , MEBT current regulation acting on source current ) e/H regulation Tests have been carried out for modules validation: simulation of faults scenarios, multi-user operation, tests of varying averaging along beam pulse.. So far so good. G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  5. Autopilot GUI snapshot (work ongoing) G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  6. Example of Autopilot regulation after source cesiation on 14/08 (concurrent Timber logging problem) G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting

  7. Beam measurements • 2 MHz amplifier tests: taken logs of L4L.BCT.1137 and L4L.BCT.3113 traces at 56ns and 94 ns resolution for different source RF power points to study current stability and frequency spectra. • Steering studies in different solenoid polarity configurations at different source RF power points to study transmission through RFQ (ongoing until end of the week). G Bellodi - Linac4 HW and BC meeting
