Specialization and Roles There are different sub-specialization in a cardiology department engaged in the treatment of angina, heart murmurs, cardiomyopathy, edema, arrhythmias, arteritis and congenital heart disease. These include stroke medicine, interventional cardiology, adult congenital heart diseases, cardiac imaging, and electrophysiology specializations. Moreover a cardiologist treats holes in the heart, narrowing of heart vessels and irregular heartbeats.
