  3. Michelangelo was known for painting the roof of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. This process took him four years to complete. Interestingly, Michelangelo was reluctant to do this.   4. Another Significant Contribution of Michelangelo • Michelangelo was commissioned to do a tomb for the Pope in Rome, Italy by Julius II in 1503.

  5. Michelangelo Perhaps one of Michelangelo’s most famous sculptures is of the Biblical hero David. A picture of the statue of David is shown below.

  9. Additional Accomplishments??? • Some people also accused Van Gogh of being crazy. • One of the most quirky things he is known for is cutting off his own ear. He was placed in an asylum for a time because he was growing increasingly mentally disturbed.

  11. Leonardo DaVinci • One of the most famous painters to emerge from the Renaissance Era of history. • DaVinci was a painter, sculptor, engineer, and architect.

  12. Significant Accomplishments of Leonardo DaVinci • His first large painting was entitled “Adoration of the Magi”. • In 1502, daVinci began service as architect for the famous house of Borgia in Italy • In 1506, daVinci was named court painter to King Louis XII of France.

  13. Leonardo DaVinci Leonardo DaVinci’s most famous painting is that of the Last Supper, pictured at left. This painting showcases the last meal that Jesus Christ had with his disciples.
