  1. Why Work in Education? Megan Mealie

  2. Megan Mealie has worked in education for decades. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Ohio University in 1991 and then received her double Master of Education degree in Special Education in 1993. In 2015, she shifted her career focus back to earning her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Management.

  3. If you admire education professionals like Megan Mealie, it might be the perfect field for you. You’ll want to research what a career in education is truly like, though, and ask yourself many questions. For example:

  4. Are You Passionate and Humorous? Mealie has maintained an excellent reputation with students and parents alike because she is passionate about teaching, and she isn’t overly serious. To work with kids, you must have a sense of humor and the passion to keep you dedicated even when you’re faced with difficult or discouraging situations.

  5. “Megan was the best administrator in Ambridge School District for seventeen years,” reads one of Mealie’s reviews. “As a parent, I watched her transform the junior high school into the top building. She did wonders for my son who hated school and had special needs.” Without passion, making such an impression on students and parents is harder.

  6. Before deciding one way or another about a career in education, go beyond reading articles online. Meet with a professional like Megan Mealie who has decades of experience. A conversation over coffee can provide insight into the branch of education you’re considering and change your perspective on the role.
