  3. 6S Process • Purpose (from TLD) • The purpose of the 6S Process is to produce and maintain a clean and productive workspace. • Criteria • How does your organization ensure effective deployment of 6S Visual Workplace strategies for workplace organization? • How are the 6S status, process flow, production status, employee training status, and continuous improvement effort clearly displayed and visible in the office and factory floor? • How does your organization ensure that work areas are kept consistently free of dirt and clutter? How are improvements reviewed and recognized?

  5. Training • Standard training provided to all participants • First 15 slides of training call follow

  6. Goals & Boundaries • Event goals • Reduce searching time • Free up 50% of space • Remove all unnecessary items • Eliminate safety issues

  7. Workplace Scan • The pre-”S” of 5S • It’s a kick-off of project • Allows for understanding of the current state situation of the area • Provides facts vs. assumptions • Allows for team members to really see their workspace

  8. Workplace Scan Steps • As a team: • Define the area for the event • Perform an audit and score the area • Take before photos • Create the 5S/ Lean Communication Board

  9. Communication Board • Use to keep everyone informed • Audit scores • Before and after photos • Have short meeting by board • Place in convenient location • Keep it current

  10. Event • Full day event • Everything removed from area • Clean • Put back only what is necessary
