  1. Enhanced Interconnection Optimization Project André Mendes Chief Technology Integration Officer PBS

  2. Enhanced Interconnection and Optimization Project • Improve station efficiency in operations while maintaining local control • Does not replace NGIS – builds upon the capabilities of the NGIS • Participation in EIOP is a station choice • Non-participating stations retain all advantages of NGIS efficiencies

  3. Project Objectives • Create a replicable, self contained, reliable, expandable and serviceable, broadcast infrastructure (the “Model Station”) that allows: • Member stations to operate their PBS related channels with a substantial reduction in the number of redundant functions, manual processes and error introduction through: • Automated channel operations • Multi-level automated systems monitoring • Remote problem identification, resolution and escalation • Remote hosting of scheduling, traffic and underwriting functionality

  4. Project Objectives • Seamless melding of nationally distributed real time and non real time programming with station produced, provided and ingested content into a locally controlled and monitored “on air” schedule • Operation at a sustained 99.99% availability and with a two hour response time to major component failure.
