  1. Cloud Computing and its Implementation ELYSIUM TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED Madurai | Trichy | Coimbatore | Kollam | Cochin | Tirunelveli By T. Udhaya Shankar, M.E., SENIOR TECHNICAL EXECUTIVE, KOLLAM BRANCH

  2. Introduction • Cloud Computing makes computer infrastructure and services available "on-need" basis. • Cloud Services include hard disk, development platform, database, computing power or complete software applications would be provided. • End users need not to have large expenses to access them, as they go for “Pay Per Use” basis. • For Example : “Owning a car, Rent a Car and Hire a Taxi.”

  3. Collections • WhyCloud Computing ??? • Key Characteristics • Virtualization • Types of Services • Implementation Simulators & Frameworks • Types of Cloud • Financial Feasibility • Privacy Rewards

  4. CollectionCont., • Applications • Implementation of Virtualization!! • Useful Websites. • Queries??? • Thank you!!!

  5. Why Cloud Computing???

  6. Why Cloud Computing??? Cont., • Cloud Computing is an computing environment in which the user will use the preinstalled, preconfigured software, resources or Infrastructure. • End users may choose their own preferable infrastructures, executing architectures, etc., • Payment will be done based on the usage of the services.

  7. Key Characteristics • Simplicity • Cost Effective • Multi Client Support • Self Automation • Security • Scalability

  8. Virtualization

  9. Types of Services • Major Services • Software as a Service (SaaS) • Platform as a Service (PaaS) • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) • Additional Services • Storage as a Service (STaaS) • Security as a Service (SeaaS) • Database as a Service (DBaas), Etc.,

  10. Implementation Simulators & Frameworks

  11. Implementation Simulators & Frameworks • Cloud Sim– Java Based Cloud Simulator • VMWare – Open Source Tool for Cloud Service Provision • Aneka - .net based Cloud Provision Tool. • Alchemy- .net based Cloud Service Provision Tool. • Azure– Microsoft Product for Cloud Implementation. • Google App Engine – Java Google Web Toolkit.

  12. Types of Cloud • There are three types of cloud basically: • They are • Public Cloud • Private Cloud • Hybrid Cloud

  13. Public Cloud

  14. Public Cloud • This type of cloud is normally used in the hosting environment and their locations. • Even though it is hosted the data are encrypted and stored securely. • Here the resources and applications are added and removed dynamically based on the usage. • It is cheaper and more useful for small and medium scale industries. • Eg: Google Apps, Amazon Web Service

  15. Private Cloud

  16. Private Cloud • The cloud is deployed with in a corporate firewall and runs on premise IT infrastructure. • Private cloud is more expensive compared to the public cloud. • The operating and bandwidth costs are to be maintained by the organization but this cloud is more secure than the public cloud. • Private Cloud provides more benefits to the corporate by capitalizing on the Data Security and Corporate Governance.

  17. Hybrid Cloud

  18. Hybrid Cloud • Hybrid Cloud are increasingly being used by corporations where there is a need to maintain some of their applications. • This type of environment where internal applications are deployed on private cloud. • For normal usage while internet applications are deployed on the public cloud to handle variable loads.

  19. Financial Feasibility • Avoid capital expenditure • Terminate Contract anytime. • Lower Entry Cost • Pay for only usage cost.

  20. Privacy • Encrypt data at rest • Encrypt data in transit • Strong Authentication • Cryptography and more secure algorithms • Manage access right holder

  21. Applications • Peer-to-peer / volunteer computing • Web application • On Demand Software as a Service • Higher end, Middle end and small scale industries. • Storage Security.

  22. Implementation of Virtualization!! • For Virtualization, I use VMWare Server. • It is an virtualization tool through online supported by Tomcat Apache Server. • Requirements: • VMWare Server • Internet Explorer • VMWare Plugin (Easily available in the Internet) • Operating System Image(.vmx format) • Pentium IV System with Password Enabled.
