  1. The Professor * IF YOU’VE SEEN THIS ALREADY AND WANT TO JUMP TO THE MORE DETAILED TEXT OF THIS PRESENTATION, CLICK ON hoakhomepage. A Lake Forest High School Chemistry and Physics Teacher (After each page, hit ENTER or RETURN to continue.)

  2. An exercise in the logistics of logging on to our computers, getting into the internet with Netscape or Internet Explorer, searching for something specific on the world wide web (www), and using our e-mail program with your LFHS address to send me e-mail.

  3. FIND IDEAS FOR THE CLASSROOM I'D LIKE YOU TO FIND A LAB OR DEMO IDEA THAT WE COULD USE IN CLASS. It should be something a regular chemistry or physics class could handle, and that we are set up to do safely with our equipment and supplies. It CAN be a lab, a demo, or a tutorial that is done on the computer over the internet.

  4. HERE'S WHAT YOU DO: If you use my links page, Search Chemistry or Physics links (especially my WEB LINKS) using either the specific links I've compiled for you, or any others you can find on your own through your searches using various search engines (see TOOLS FOR GLOBAL SEARCHING). I will help you get started. Use my Research Outline and Overview page to learn good sources and methods. I also have a page of links you can use to search with, as well as links to search engines.

  5. Take your time! Find something good!

  6. Before June 1, send your ADDRESS(ES) for your contribution to my e-mail address. For full credit, follow the directions in"Internet Day #1”EXACTLY! (If you need to review these directions, or need help with e-mail or my address, review a copy of "Internet Day #1" when you are ready to send me something.)

  7. Be sure to turn in a printout of your contribution with ... • … the URL and both day and time of printing on it, • … your NAME on it, • … and the TIME and DAY you sent me its address. • Also, IF you used someone else's address to send me mail, write that address on the printout as well.

  8. It's time to send you back to the Lab or Demo assignment page. The General link you’ll find there to my Research Outline and Overview page is a MUST to read and study once! Another link is to my personal home page! It has MANY Chem/Phys links, as well as some miscellaneous science links. It's a good place to start this assignment, but certainly feel free to start elsewhere if you prefer.

  9. My page also includes some non-science links I either like to have on hand, or I thought other people might find useful. There's also a long list of search engines, so you're not stuck using YAHOO! all the time. Try some others! Use the suggestions in the Research Outline and Overview! Become versatile!

  10. Go to the Lab or Demo Assignment page. (Click here to start this presentation again.)
