5. 4. have sb. doing 使某人一直做某事（动作在持续） e.g. She had us working day after day. • have sb. do使某人做某事（动作完成或可能发生） have sth. to do有某事要做 have sth. done使某事被做 e.g.1) They had me repeat the massage. 他们让我把口信重复一遍。 2) I’ll not have you say such things 我绝不会让你说这样的话。

8. 5. act 1) act out 表演 The teacher asked the students to actout the dialogue. 2) act as 担任工作，充当角色 She act as an interpreter in that company. 她在那家公司任翻译。 3) act on/upon对……起作用 Heat acts on bodies and causes them to expand. 热对物体产生作用，使之膨胀。

9. 4) act on sb’s advice (order , etc)按某人的建议/要求等 He didn’t act on your advice. 他没有按你的要求去做。 5) act for 代理 He acted for Smith while he was ill. 史密斯生病期间由他代理。

10. 6. perform 1)“履行，执行，完成” 常与表动作的名词搭配使用表达某一动作。 e.g. I like to perform my duties early in the morning. 我喜欢一大早就履行我的职责。 A computer can perform calculations with surprising speed 计算机能经惊人的速度进行计算。 2)“表演，演出，演奏” e.g. His work is performed all over the world. 他的作品在全世界演出。

11. 7. besides / except • besides “除了……以外（还有）” e.g. There were five of us besides John. 除了John，我们还有五人（共6人） We all went to the cinema besides John. 除了John，我们也都去看了电影（和我们都去了） 2)except “除了……之外（不再有）” e.g. Nobody was late except me. 除了我之外无人迟到。（我迟到了） We all went except John. 我们都去了，只有John没有。

12. 3）except for 表示“说明基本情况之后的一个补充” e.g. We had a very pleasant time except for the weather. 除了天公不作美，我们玩得很开心。 Your composition is good exceptfor some spelling mistakes. 你的作文很好，只是有几个拼写错误。 4)except that +从句 “除了……一点儿以外” It will do except that it is too long. 这行，只是太长了点儿。 5)besides 还可以作副词，表“而且，再者”

13. e.g. It’s too late to go for a walk, besides, it’s beginning to rain. 现在出去散步太晚了，而且又要下雨了。 I don’t like that dictionary, besides, it’s too expensive. 我不喜欢那本字典，而且它太贵了。 8.come up with 1)“提出，提供” I hope you can come up with a better plan than this. 我希望你能提出一个比这更好的计划。
