  18. The Segregation Index • SI = 100 * |Xi/X- Yi/Y|/2 • where • Xi is the number of male workers in occupation i • X is total number of male workers • Yi is the number of female workers in occupation i • Y is total number of female workers

  20. Segregation index • Takes a value between 0 (complete integration) to 100 (complete segregation) • If SI = 40, either 40 percent of women have to switch to male dominated jobs or 40 percent of men have switch to female dominated jobs to have complete integration
