  1. THE SIGN OF HIS PRESENCE In the Gospel of Matthew, “good works” doesn’t only mean isolated acts of charity, such as visiting prisoners, clothing the naked and many other works of mercy done to meet people’s needs. Rather it means a total commitment to doing the will of God, so that our whole life is a “good work.” And this is what happened to… How can we know if our actions are done in the will of God? To be a good work, everything we do should have just one characteristic: to show, through our life, that God is present in our midst, and that He will reveal himselfwhere two or more are united in His name. In fact,Jesus promised us He would always be with us, until the end of time. Young for Unity, Switzerland WoL Word of Life “Your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father” (Mt. 5, 16) The news we read about or hear is always so negative, and so we got the idea of launching a project, a challenge to the media in our canton [a part of their country]. One day would be dedicated to publishing only good news! 376 teachers and students from two schools signed the petition, saying that focusing on positive news would give hope to people that a better world is possible. Many newspapers took up the challenge and dedicated a good part of their publication to this. One of the journalists said, “Good news starts from people like you who believe that good will always win out, even if it doesn’t make headlines.” Under the magnifying glass… By living like this, we will be the light that this Word of Life talks about, and we will help many boys and girls know how much God loves them. The early church put great emphasis on these words of Jesus. Especially in difficult moments, when the Christians were slandered or mocked, they would be encouraged by these wordsnot to react with violence. And this was the best proof that what people accused them of was not true.
