Custom shoes for a customised performance | men’s shoes

Looking good is now more than a vanity thing. It’s a performance issue. Scientists have proven the clothes you wear can directly affect your performance. The shoes you wear could affect your performance in the work place and in finding love. A recently published study from professors at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University shows that the clothing a subject wears directly affects their results on a set task.

  1. Custom shoes for a customised performance

  3. Many of us have had the experience of feeling more motivated and focused when we’re dressed up for work—whether that means slipping on a sharp pair of custom dress shoes when our normal office dress code is sneakers or, for those who work from home, simply putting a pair of shoes on. But quantifying that feeling has remained elusive.

  4. In this study, a group of participants were given simple white lab coats (something that a doctor or scientist would wear) and asked to perform the same test as the regularly clothed group. Those in the lab coats made half as many mistakes as the people dressed normally.

  5. The researchers, Adam Galinsky and Hajo Adam, call their paper “Enclothed cognition,” a play on the term “embodied cognition,” the idea that bodily sensations can affect how we think and how we feel. For example, a 2010 study found that body positions we think of as powerful (such as standing and leaning over a table or pumping out your chest) makes people act more confident and even raises testosterone levels in the body. Just smiling can make you actually feel happier. Give it a try.

  6. The implications for men’s shoes are profound. If you’re looking to attract a partner, wearing fashionable customised shoes will make you look attractive, stylish and confident. Which will actually make you attractive and confident. If you’re wanting to improve your executive presence in boardroom, wearing a fine bespoke men’s shoe will make you look more powerful and experienced. Which will actually make you perform more powerfully. We’ve always known you are what you eat, and know it seems you are what you wear. Food for thought.
