  2. What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma? • Pre - University Diploma and International Admissions Credential • 2 Year Programme (Grades 11 & 12) • Based on an Integrated Curriculum

Who are Junior Prep Students? • They should display the following: • Understand concepts quickly • Demonstrate strong literacy, numeracy, and problem solving skills • Demonstrate initiative and intellectual curiosity • Possess a solid work ethic • Work independently • Perform at or above grade level in every subject! DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

  5. What is the purpose of JP? • The Grade 9 and 10 years are meant to be preparatory years where students “test the IB waters” to see if the programme is the right choice for them

  6. And to build a strong foundation for success in the senior years of high school (Gr. 11 & 12) • Developing strong work habits • Developing strong study skills • Learning to balance activities with academics

  7. What does Jr. Prep look like? • In the Grade 9 Year JP I students will take enriched courses in: • English • French • Science • Math

  8. In the JP 2 year (Grade 10) students will take enriched courses in: • English • French • Science • Math • History • Religion (TOK Prep)

Benefits to IB • 99% of Universities world wide recognize IB • In Canada – early admission, transfer credits, entrance scholarships • (BPJP II IB students - $350,000 in scholarship offers last year based on 29 students) • 40% of non-IB students exit university after first year; only 15 % of IB students exit after first year

  10. Schulich Scholarship Winner Kristin McIntosh (IB Graduate 2013), one of 40 students across Canada, to earn the prestigious Schulich Scholarship worth $60,000 for a STEM programme

Documents to Include in your Application • Completed written response • Completed Application Form • Grade 7 Final Report Card • Most Recent Grade 8 Progress Report • CAT 4 Scores or CASI Scores • TCDSB Waiting List Application (for non-TCDSB students only) • Completed Confidential Teacher Report in Sealed Envelope
