  1. We all want to breathe in the air that is clean as well as healthy for us and our kids too, but the air we breathe in is not as clean as it needs to be. It contains air particles, bacteria, dust, pollens, mold spores, and pet dander that produce allergies in sensitive people.

  2. Luckily, there are lots of products in the market that helps in filtering the indoor air and eliminate the harmful pollutants, and air filter is one of them. It is a device which is made up of fibrous materials to filter out all kind of toxins from the air.

  3. Luckily, there are lots of products in the market that helps in filtering the indoor air and eliminate the harmful pollutants, and air filter is one of them. It is a device which is made up of fibrous materials to filter out all kind of toxins from the air. With so many choices available for us, it’s important to choose the right one. Let’s have a look at some of the most used and basic types of air filters:

  4. HEPA Filters HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air”. These types of filters are considered as the most efficient replacement air filters that trap 99.97% of pollutants, thus commonly used in hospitals and the places where the cleanest air is required. HEPA filters need to be replaced frequently, thus people consider it as an expensive choice. Moreover, they are good for cleaning the air even within small spaces.

  5. Charcoal Filters A charcoal filter is an air-cleaning device that is useful if you are fighting with unwanted odors in your home environment. As charcoal is a porous substance having a great capacity of trapping, thus when used in filters, it will eliminate odors from the air perfectly in minimum time.

  6. Hybrid Filters Hybrid filters are a kind of filters that are the combination of multiple types of air filters. For example, a hybrid filter involves electronic charge as well as a pleated fabric. It is an all-around good solution to clean the air.

  7. Pleated Filters Pleated filters are also called as media filters, most probably similar to HEPA filters, but are pleated or folded. It helps capture the large particles. When your main choice is to remove the dust from your indoor area, these filters work well.

  8. Pleated air filters are further divided into various categories based on their ratings. They range from MERV 1 to MERV 16 ratings. The term MERV stands for “Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value” which is an industry-standard rating. The higher the MERV ratings will, the more efficiency will be there for trapping the airborne particles. At MervFilters LLC, we stock MERV 8, MERV 11, and MERV 13 air filters.

  9. MERV 8: MERV 8 filters are mostly used for the household purpose that can trap small particles and allergens from 3 to 10 microns. They are less expensive and easy to service as compared to high rating filters.

  10. MERV 11: MERV 11 air filters are capable of removing 65% to 79% particles of 1.0 to 3.0 microns as well as more than 85% percent of particles with 3.0 to 10.0 microns. MERV 13: MERV 13 rating filters are mostly used for commercial applications like hospitals where there are more pollutants, thus higher standard of air cleanliness is required.

  11. Now, the choice is yours. From 10x10x1 MERV 8 to 25x25x1 MERV 8, 10x10x1 MERV 11 to MERV 11 filter 16x25x1 and 25x25x1, and MERV 13 filter 10x10x1 to 20x25x4 MERV 13 air filter, we have covered all.
