  2. Early Life • Born June 7, 1975 • Born to Ann Iverson and Allen Broughton • Allen took the maiden name of his mother after his father left them at an early age

  3. High School and College • At Bethel High School, Allen was a 2 sport athlete, playing basketball and football • Allen was involved in an incident at a bowling alley and was accused of assault • He was sentenced to a 15 year prison sentence. It was later overturned due to insufficient evidence In Spring 1994, Georgetown coach John Thompson visited Bethel High School and recruited him to play for the Hoyas

  4. College Career • At Georgetown, Iverson won the Big East Rookie of the Year award, two Big East Defensive Player of the Year awards, and was named to the All Rookie Tournament 1st Team. • He ended his college career as the Hoyas' all-time leader in career scoring average, at 23.0 ppg.

  5. NBA Draft • Iverson was Drafted 1st overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1996 NBA Draft • He was the Rookie of the Year for the 1996-1997 season

  6. Trip to the Finals • In 2001, The Sixers also posted a 56–26 record, the best in the Eastern Conference that season. He also averaged a then-career high 31.1 points, winning his second NBA scoring title in the process. Iverson won the NBA steals title at 2.5 a game. Iverson was named NBA Most Valuable Player, and named to the All NBA First team for his accomplishments

  7. Fallout with the Sixers • During the later part of the 2003-2004 season, Iverson bristled under the disciplinarian approach of the Sixers new head coach Chris Ford. Iverson missed practices, being fined for not notifying Ford about not being there.

  8. Denver Nuggets • In 2006 the Sixers traded Iverson to the Nuggets • He joined Carmelo Anthony as a premier player on the Nuggets

  9. Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies • Nuggets traded Iverson in 2008 to the Pistons • He switched jersey numbers from 3 to 1 • In 2009 the Pistons traded Iverson to the Memphis Grizzlies

  10. Return to Philly • On December 7, 2009 Iverson made his return to Philadelphia in a roar of the crowd( I can say I was a proud member of that crowd ) • He had 11 points 6 assists 5 rebounds and 1 steal

  11. Bestikas • In 2010 it was reported Iverson had signed a 1 year deal with a team from Turkey • Iverson made his debut for Bestikas on November 16,2010 and scored 15 points in 23 minutes
