  2. Navigation Act(1780-1700) Laws passed boy parliament to control trade in the empire. Sugar act is pot on sugar from W.Indies. Special courts were setup. Stifling – of colonial manufacturing and increased resentment.

  3. Proclamation of 1763 • Most American Indies wanted soldiers to leave. Came after French Indian War. Created Appalations Mountain. Recognized the Indians’ rights. Made colonist angry.

  4. Stamp Act ( 1765) Stamp act anything taxed on paper Act cause colonist to resent British rules. Samuel Adams begin committees of correspondence People refused to by certain goods

  5. Sons of Liberty • Samuel Adams help start the organizations • Members took the streets and protest the stamp • People in other cities also help organize the sons of liberty • Summer of 1765 protestants burned effigies • Also raided and destroyed houses

  6. Declaratory Act • After the repeal the king approved the Declaratory Act • Which essentially said the parliament full authority over legislation in the colonist in the colonist • While colonist celebrated their victory over the Stamp Act • Another parliament passed the same day.

  7. Quartering Act • Due too social hand political problems the British parliament passed the Quartering Act • Act required colonist to Quarter- 1. colonist didn’t have a standing army of soldiers of assistance 2. WAS HOUSING AN SUPPLING THE SOLDIERS WAS COSTLY

  8. Townshend Act • Made colonist pay taxes on importing tea, glass, paper, and other. • Colonist boycotted British goods • Protest walked and parliament repealed most of taxes • Anger continued to grow against the British

  9. Boston Massacre • Anger and tension continued to grow as Britain sent more soldiers to Boston when colonist resisted taxes • Crowd gathered around angry colonist arguing with the British soldiers • This deadly riot resulted in five colonist being killed • Samuel Adams shared knew ideas to people

  10. Tea Act/Boston Tea Party • The only company allowed to sell tea to colonist • The Tea Act gave people a favorable advantage • Words of defiance spread throughout the colonies • The Boston Tea Party reached all way to London

  11. Coercive Acts • Closed harbor until colonist paid for the ruined Tea • They took away certain rights to the colonist • Banned most town meetings • Response violated colonist rights • Angered colonist
