What are Panels and How Do They Work • Owner/creator of a panel can • Read (see the panel) • Add and remove patients and • Delete or rename the panel and • Grant access to others to use the panel • A panel can be • a list of patients with appointments in Epic for a specific provider, • a list of patients with a specific diagnosis, • your inpatient scratch census can display as a panel • a list you create on the fly by adding patients individually

  4. Create a Panel To create a panel, click on panels from Pt list or from white tab 1

  5. Create a Panel (cont.) 2 Select “create panel” and lower frame will load 3 Name the panel and click ok 4 The panel will now appear

  6. To Add Individual Patient to a Panel Easily: Customize Your Actions Menu 1 Click on Actions menu and select “Customize” 2 Click on “add to panel” and *remove* 3 Click on “Install new Actions”

  7. …Now, Add a Patient to a Panel 1 Click on the Actions menu and select “Add to Panel” 2 Select the panel you just created to add the patient

  8. Auto-Copy Features • Allows user to manage which panels get updated • Auto updates every few hours

  9. How to Auto-copy Between Panels 1 Select Panel tab 2 Click on “Automatically copy patients between panels” 3 Select the scratch census to auto-copy to the panel you created

  10. How to Stop Auto-copy 1 Click on “Automatically copy patients between panels” 2 Select blue link “stop auto-copy” on the panels you want to stop this function 3 The line will disappear once completed

  11. Manage Access to PanelsHow to Grant Access to a Panel 1 Click on the Panel that you created 2 Enter by last name Check boxes for specific Access Click OK to grant access 3 Will receive confirmation screen

  12. Manage Access to PanelsHow to Remove Access to a Panel 4 Click on the Panel you just created and select the “Remove granted access” option 5 Search by user ID, click OK, and select “Revoke access”

  13. HEO/WIZ Scratch Census and StarPanel Users can: • Set up their scratch census or secondary scratch in HEO/WIZ and see it as a panel in StarPanel • Still access same panel features as any other panel

  14. A Quick Review of Inpatient Scratch Census 1 First link to a census by selecting “Modify census” from Wiz/HEO 2 3 4

  15. Link to Secondary Scratch Census 1 First switch to secondary scratch census by selecting “Modify Census” from WIZ/HEO 2 Then, link to a census

  16. Secondary Scratch Census in StarPanel 3 Click on Scratch census in black bar and select “Show your secondary scratch census” 4 Click on “Refresh” to see secondary scratch census
