Simple AI verbs. Animate intransitive AI. These are words were something animate does something by his or her self. Example I eat, I sit, I will go, I did read, I will write etc. Wisne- he/she eats, maji-he/she leaves, wawijge- he/she reads,kikto-he/she talks,kedo-he/she says etc.

  2. Animate intransitive AI • These are words were something animate does something by his or her self. • Example I eat, I sit, I will go, I did read, I will write etc. • Wisne- he/she eats, maji-he/she leaves, wawijge- he/she reads,kikto-he/she talks,kedo-he/she says etc.

  3. Most AI verbs fall into this pattern so become familiar with it. • There are some AI verbs which are a little different including those that start with y or w. • Also there are a couple that lose the last e or o. • We will discuss these in future lessons but right now we will give you a number verbs which fit the pattern. Pay special attention to the highlighted portions.

  4. V-stem verbs • Nmaji- I leave • Gmaji- You leave • Maji- he/she leave • Nmajimen- We (-u) leave • Gmajimen-we all leave • Gmajim- You all leave • Majik- They leave.

  5. Giwse- he/she hunts • Ngiwse- I hunt • Ggiwse- You hunt • Giwse- he/she hunts • Ngiwsemen- We(-u) hunt • Ggiwsemen- We all hunt • Ggiwsem- You all hunt • Giwsek- They hunt.

  6. Binchege- he/she cleans • Nbinchege- I clean • Gbinchege- You clean • Binchege- he/she cleans • Nbinchegemen- We(-u) clean • Gbinchegemen- We all clean • Gbinchegem- You all clean • Binchegek- They clean

Some more words to practice which fit into this pattern • Mikchewi- work • winchege- dirty up • zhech ke- do • nibwe- stand (literally stand as in stay standing but often used for get up) • bzegwi- rise/stand • mbwachewe- visit • wijewe- accompany • kikto- talk • biskonye- dress • giskonye- undress • nimedi- dance • migadi- fight • dewege- drum (literally bang on s.t.) • gwedemojge- fish also gigo ke. • bodwe- build a fire
