  1. Why Plant Another? Church • Church planting is the most effective way to evangelize any culture any where on earth. • Churches per capita are decreasing steadily in America • In 1900 there were 28 churches per 10,000 people in America • In 2004 there were 11 churches per 10,000 people in America • 70% of Georgia’s population is presently unchurched. • By shear numerical values, the US is statistically the largest mission field in the Western Hemisphere and the fifth largest in the world with 120 million unreached people.

  2. Why Plant Another Church (cont.) • The portion of America’s population that identified themselves as Christians in 1990 was 86%. By 2001 that rate dropped to 77%, a 10.46% decline in one decade! • The number of unchurched people in the US nearly doubled between 1991 and 2004 rising from 39 million to 76 million (an increase of 92.3%) during a period when the overall population grew by 15%. • There are 10 million self styled “born-again believers” who haven’t attended church in the past six months. • Most existing US churches are either plateaued or in decline.

Vision and Mission Statement Generations is a missional church that exists to make disciples in all generations by teaching every one we can: • to love God enough to obey him • to love people enough to serve them • to know Jesus enough to follow Him • to trust the Father enough to risk everything to advance His kingdom • to trust the Holy Spirit enough to let Him use us for His Glory.

  6. Remembering a GREAT Theme The Great Commission is our Vision. The Great Commandment is our Mission. The Great Shepherd is our Model. Great Expectations define our Core Values. Great Faith sets our Strategic Priorities.

The Great Commission is our vision. 18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB) Our vision calls us to be a missional church that exists to make disciples in all generations.

Missional: • We believe that our local church must be faithful to the content of unchanging Biblical doctrine (Jude 3). • We believe that our local church must be faithful to the continually changing context of the culture(s) in which they minister (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). • We believe that our mission is to bring people into church so that they can be trained to go out into their culture as effective missionaries. Our goal is to be less attractional in our philosophy of ministry and more incarnational.

  9. The Great Commandment is our mission. 29Jesus answered, "The foremost (command) is, 'Hear, o Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31"The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:29-31(NASB) Our mission calls us to love God enough to obey him and to love people enough to serve them.

The Great Shepherd is our model for life and ministry. 20May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV) Emulating Christ requires that we know Jesus enough to follow His example.

Great Expectations define the core values that shape our corporate culture. 20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20 (NIV) To realize our great expectations, we must trust the Father enough to risk everything to advance His kingdom

  12. Core Values • Gospel Faithfulness – For us, everything is centered on Jesus, his sinless life, substitutionary death and subsequent resurrection. While our culture constantly parades counterfeit gods and false gospels in front of us, vying for affections and our resources, the one true gospel holds the power to save us and sanctify us. Belief in that gospel alone can transform the human heart, a marriage, a family, a community and an entire culture. • Missional Living – As believers in Christ, every member has the responsibility to serve others above self and to incarnate the gospel in their arenas of influence. Every member is called to serve as a missionary in their unique cultural context.

Core Values • Authentic Community - We are committed to offering support and accountability to one another in the context of authentic, vulnerable long term relationships. • Extravagant Giving – We are committed to experiencing the grace of God’s provision so that we can be generous toward others at every opportunity. We understand that God often blesses us because he is burdened for other people.

  14. Core Values • Church Multiplication – We desire to expand the kingdom by multiplying churches in other communities (in the US and abroad) rather than simply growing larger in one location. • Disproportionate Influence – We believe the Lord wants to use us beyond our natural capacity to achieve “God-sized” goals. We are ordinary people expecting God to do extraordinary things through us.

Great Faith is our strategic priority. 3We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater; 4therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NASB)

  16. Pursuing our priorities will require that we trust the Holy Spirit enough for Him to use us for His Glory – indwelling us, empowering us, directing us, providing for us, and stationing us in the place of His choosing where we are to incarnate the gospel no matter what challenges may arise.

Hope for Haiti 2010 Food for the Hungry Community 2 Community • First, the church nominates a Church Advocate to be the primary contact between the church, FH and the community. • Second, the church commits to promote the C2C initiative to the body at large, regularly praying and communicating updates from the chosen community. • Third, the church commits to sponsor children each year. • Fourth, the church commits to sending at least one short-term team to the partner community.
