U.S.Broad presence in the world's toughest market Overview of fiscal 2011 Only major locations Sales & service Engineering / R&D Top manu-facturinglocations Manufacturing / assembly Siemens is modernizing the U.S. infrastructure • Siemens invested more than US$25 billion over the past 15 years • Energy: Our power generation solutions help meet one-third of America's total energy needs. Siemens energy management and high voltage systems have boosted the capacity of existing power transmission lines by up to 24% • Healthcare: Our ADVIA Centaur Vitamin D Total Assay helps physicians properly diagnose and treat the approximately 77% of US adults who are insufficient or deficient in vitamin D • Industry: Our postal automation systems process 90% of the nation's mail

  5. An Historical Overview:Doing successful business for over 150 years 1953 1866 1847 2005 1923 Siemens developed the floating-zone methodto manufacture extremelypure silicon. The dynamo created the basis for cost effectively using electric power. Werner von Siemens developed theneedle tele-graph; founded the “Telegraph-en-Bauanstalt von Siemens &Halske“ in Berlin. For the first time Siemens employed more than 100.000 employeesworldwide. The Siemens regional business in Brazil – and in Portugal – celebrated their 100th anniversary.

  6. History of Siemens PV activities • 1950‘s Siemens develops first technology for silicon production, the „Siemens Reactor“ • 1980‘s First commercial use of Siemens PV panels and PV inverters for radio transmitters and grid connected power production • 1986 Establishment of Siemens Solar GmbH Production of PV inverter, crystalline, a:SI and CIS PV modules • 1987 Development of first three phase PV inverter • 1997 Introduction of world‘s first central inverter first usage on 1,0 MW „Fair Munich“, introduction of Master-Slave system • 1998 Transfer of Siemens PV inverter business to Siemens A&D • 2001 Joint Venture Siemens Solar – Shell Renewables – E.ON • 2002 Shell acquires Siemens Solar Siemens Solar was 4th largest PV module manufacturer • 2008 Opening of a new inverter factory • 2008 3.000th Central PV inverter unit shipped PV module SM18 from 1982 still in use on buoys in Greece 1,0 MW plant „Fair Munich“ with first central inverter in 1997 More than 25 years of experience with PV installations and PV inverters

  11. Siemens SINVERT Inverters part of project awarded "Solar Project of the Year" • Ninety-six Siemens Sinvert 550M inverters are part of Sempra Generation's award-winning Copper Mountain Solar project. • Sempra Generation’s Copper Mountain Solar project, currently the largest photovoltaic solar plant in the U.S., has been awarded “Solar Project of the Year” by Renewable Energy World as part of the 2011 Excellence in Renewable Energy Awards.  • Announced in early March 2011 at the Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo in Tampa, Fla.  Copper Mountain Solar was selected out of hundreds of nominations in the category. • The 48-megawatt (MW) solar installation, located in Boulder City, Nev., about 40 miles southeast of Las Vegas, was completed in late 2010 and includes 96 of Siemens SINVERT 550kw Inverters, and now generates enough renewable electricity to power about 14,000 average homes. This project is part of more than 110MW of Siemens inverters that have been installed in the U.S. in the last 2 years.
