  2. Project Goals 1st goal: To design a personal (one-camera) security system for individual rooms 2nd goal: To design a multi-camera security system to monitor the labs and halls Final Goal: Use these cameras for video conferencing

  3. Project Background Unauthorized entries and theft are major concerns of all those involved with the B.M.E. Dept. Primary concerns include: Invasion of privacy Loss of and damage to property intellectual physical

  4. Current Status Handed out/collected surveys to determined what is desired Talked to Dr. Harris about our needs/wishes Selected and purchased software for a single camera system Set-up a computer in the B.M.E. computer lab

  6. Surveys: Distributed and Returned Surveys were distributed to all members of the BME faculty to gain insight into the wants and needs of the department. Returns were few, yet revealing Statistics on those that were returned are available to those who are interested

  7. Demands and Wishes A list of demands for the prototype was made Using the information garnered from the surveys, a list of wishes for an implemented system were made

  8. Prototype Demands One Camera Gotcha! Single Camera Video Capture software Access to a room to watch with a computer Video capture card or stand alone digital camera that complies with Microsoft’s Video for Windows

  9. Prototype Demands Continued PC with a 90 MHz processor 16 Mbytes of RAM Windows 95, 98, or Windows NT 4.0 operating system A minimum of 10 Mbytes disk space for the storage of Gotcha! Clips 3.2 Mbytes of free memory (required for installation)

  10. System Wishes • Write-able CD-ROM drive • 8 Mbyte Video Card • A total of 8 cameras • 2 Gotcha! Multi-camera Video Capture Software Licenses • Internet access for Video Conferencing/Remote Surveillance • PC with 133 MHz or greater processor
