  2. These days, there seems to be reviews for just about everything. If you take a look on Yelp, you’ll definitely find reviews for your local grocery store, that Chinese restaurant down the street, the gym you go to, and even the city you live in! Reviews aren’t just on Yelp. You’ll find reviews in the newspaper, on bloggers, and on TV. For a small business, reviewscan help your company gain more recognition within your community. Here’s how to go about getting more reviews for your business, and ensuring they’re positive:

  3. Reach Out to Bloggers • Influencers are very sought-after these days as part of large corporations’ marketing tools. There’s a reason for that. Social media influencers have a lot of sway when it comes to recommending products, and their millions of followers take their opinion very seriously. • If you’ve come across some blogs that seem to mesh with your business model, reach out to ask if you can send them a free shipment of your products in exchange for an honest review. Even if some bloggers don’t show any interest, be polite to them. They may be interested down the line when your business has more clout!

  4. Encourage Patrons to Review Not all the patrons who walk into your store will know about Yelp. Some people who have an awesome time at your restaurant may not think about writing a review. Encourage your patrons to go online and write you reviews but do it tactfully. Include a note at the bottom of receipts, for example, or put a small sign in the restaurant directing customers to your Yelp page. When it comes to asking customers for a favor, it’s best to be subtle and tactful. After all, nobody is obligated to do anything for you, so be polite, gracious, and diplomatic about it.

So even if your page is loaded with positive reviews, there’s bound to be a few that are less than stellar. In these instances, it may be wise to reply the patron to either apologize or offer amends. Never criticize the patron, as this will only displease the customer further. If the review is simply so nasty that you don’t even want to deal with the disagreeable person, simply ignore it. One negative review will not severely impact your business, and it’s not worth getting into an online argument over.
