Detroit MoU/MG meeting summary • Presentation and commitment to current UN/CEFACT work program. • Earlier discussion of OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) submission to UN/CEFACT. • Joint work on integrated electronic business framework model. • Related to this is the need to better share information about on-going work programs. • Identified a need to review the text of the MoU • Whether any changes are needed to strengthen coordination efforts between MoU members. • Additional internal MoU/MG operating procedures needed?

Geneva MoU/MG meeting summary • Positive developments by organizations using UN/CEFACT Core Components. • By the Open Applications Group (OAGi), and EAN International • Development of an integrated electronic business framework model. • To show the relationship between all standards developments. • Special attention to security needs in the supply chain. • Review of current text of the MoU.

Development of Oasis relationship • Joint UN/CEFACT – OASIS statement • Representatives of OASIS and UN/CEFACT have reaffirmed willingness to continue cooperation on ebXML, with the intent to develop an agreement within 4 months, with procedures to ensure each party has clarity in their work programmes, with a view to avoiding duplication of effort, subject to rules of each organization. • Discussions with OASIS are on-going.

UN/CEFACT liaison Issues • UN/CEFACT Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy • Enquiries from Standards Development Organizations for new Liaison relations with UN/CEFACT • With the outcome of IPR still uncertain, Organizations are hesitant to establish new relations with UN/CEFACT • 1 organization has formally withdrew their existing Liaison • Lack of a documented UN/CEFACT Liaison Policy • To be further discussed under Plenary Agenda Item 13

  7. UN/CEFACT SIMPLE, TRANSPARENT AND EFFECTIVE PROCESSES FOR GLOBAL BUSINESS.
