  3. My Goal To develop and sustain high performance organisations – they look and feel different, outstrip their competitors, empower and reward their employees

  4. Context – Global Organisations are bombarded by change - many are struggling to keep up Nearly all CEOs are adapting their business models - two thirds are implementing extensive innovations Outperformers manage change better

  5. Context – Global Many shifts Many developed economies are stalled - debt, slow growth, policy gridlock Emerging economies – buoyant, competitive Effective Global power is shifting rapidly, e.g. G8 to G20

  6. Context – Global GFC - policy catastrophe since Carter Many other challenges - climate change, water, energy, sustainability generally…

  7. Context – NZ Long term decline : - productivity - tradables sector - savings - debt - government spending growth - long term fiscal outlook

  10. Conclusion The big picture is not benign New Zealand is exposed and challenged It must do a lot better Contrary to popular belief: there is a silver bullet…
