  3. Background • The 28th NCC Resolution • NCC appointed Garden Grove church “to study and create a balanced, systematic program to support the complete life-cycle of TJC members, from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity” CLB Report to 30th NCC

Background (2) • Key activities in 2004 • Implemented 2-week and 8-week curriculums in the English Bible Fellowship • Love is Our Call (4th quarter, 2003) • Prayer (1st quarter, 2004) • Worship (2nd quarter, 2004) • Fellowship (3rd quarter, 2004) • Servitude (Oct-Nov, 2004) • CLB National Forum in the GG church attended by 23 representatives from 8 churches and USGA. CLB Report to 30th NCC

Background (3) • 1st CLB report to the 29th NCC Highlights • GG church council established an ad-hoc committee to plan, study, and develop the CLB program • The activities were successfully implemented with the 5 integral areas: Worship, Servitude, Evangelism, Fellowship, and Discipleship. • Recruited TJC volunteer members from the southern California churches that formed the respective departments: Joanne Lee, Widya Susanto, Angie Su, Jackson Tsai, and Jason Hsu. Background (4) • Resolution/Decision from the 29th NCC from USGA to the CLB team • CLB be extended for one more year with the same CLB team members • During this phase II period, the CLB team shall be directly under the management and oversight of the USGA pastoral department CLB Report to 30th NCC

Background (5) • The USGA Council further asked CLB work team to: • Help in writing/compiling a set of Religious Education textbook in English for adult members, • Map out a detailed plan to process the textbooks' writing/compiling first, and • Work with the GA CLB Advisory Team closely, so that the textbooks' compiling task can be carried out smoothly. Background (6) • The textbooks will be reviewed by the GA CLB Advisory Team. • After approval, the textbooks will be on trail in Sabbath afternoon EBF services of the GG church for a period of time to see whether or not the textbooks need to be revised.  • The final edition of the textbooks will be circulated to other TJC churches in the USA and eventually translated to Chinese and promoted to all churches.   9. CLB PROGRAM OBJECTIVES • Nurture, build up, and equip each member spiritually so he/she will be a good soldier of the Lord. • Fulfill Great Commandment (Matt 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Mat 28:19-20) of Lord Jesus. CLB Report to 30th NCC

  10. CLB Consists of… • Worship - Communion with God • Fellowship - Connection with others in the body of Christ • Discipleship - Becoming more like Christ • Servitude - Using your gifts to serve others and Christ • Evangelism - Bringing others to Christ CLB Report to 30th NCC

  11. Development of Bible Study Curriculum (2005) • Evangelism • Including a GG English Bible Fellowship Group Review. (Dec 2004-Feb 2005) • Worship • Habits of Highly Effective Christians (Mar 2005) • Ten Basic Beliefs (April to June, 2005) • Discipleship • Building Character (July to November, 2005) CLB Report to 30th NCC

  12. Library of Materials • Complete copy of curriculum of these projects and other CLB work products are electronically archived and available upon request or could be accessed via http://www.tjc.us/christianlifebuilder (is this active and permanent?) CLB Report to 30th NCC

  13. Topical Method of Bible Study • Having a good, systematic bible study material is essential • Participants are to prepare and lead the discussion • A written guidelines was then developed CLB Report to 30th NCC

Other Activities of the CLB Program in 2005 • Strengthening Speaker Pool for the Weekly English Sabbath Services • The Southwest Region Coordination Center has assigned many English speakers from other churches to support the weekly English Sabbath services in GG church. Nuts and Bolts of Building a Worship-Orientated Life • Participants of the GG EBF discussed the Habits of Highly Effective Christians : • The Habit of Bible Reading • The Habit of Prayer • The Habit of Worship (public/private): create mission statement • Establish weekly/monthly attendance goal (Sabbath AM/PM, Wed Bible study) • Areas of improvement (punctuality, note taking, application, etc.) • Hymns/Praise (private /public) • Accountability CLB Report to 30th NCC

Jesus the True God The Holy Bible Salvation The Holy Spirit The True Jesus Church Baptism Footwashing Holy Communion The Sabbath Day The Coming of Christ Topical Method of Bible Study The group decided to preparecurriculum using topical method on the TEN BASIC BELIEFS. Each lesson will include biblical background, lessons/teaching, and personal application. CLB Report to 30th NCC

SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION • Thanks to NCC, USGA, and Garden Grove Church • TJC GG English Ministry benefited from the program. • Continue our resources to further develop and foster CLB to become a mature curriculum • Adopting the CLB program concept and principals and implement such to other language groups CLB Report to 30th NCC
