Office Assistant Certificate • Keyboarding • Introduction to Computers • Word (typing up meeting minutes, creating proposals…) • Excel (tracking attendance) • PowerPoint (creating presentations for DELAC, other students…) • Publisher (informational flyers) • Clerical Reception (phoning absent students, tracking responses) • Office Occupations (interpersonal skills)

NMUSD Adult Education Student Ideas: Reasons Students Stop Attending • Limited space in day care • Transportation problems • Parents w/children in class make it difficult to concentrate • Concerns about teacher(s): • Favoritism – Teacher favors some students more than other students. • Teacher does not motivate students and/or provide a dynamic learning experience.

NMUSD Adult Education Student Ideas: Reasons Students Stop Attending • Limited space in day care – (see Day Care FAQs) • Transportation problems • Parents w/children in class make it difficult to concentrate – (see Classroom Policy) • Concerns about teacher(s): (see Suggestion Box) • Favoritism – Teacher favors some students more than other students. • Teacher does not motivate students and/or provide a dynamic learning experience.

NMUSD Adult Education Student Ideas: How can we increase attendance/participation? • Add a pronunciation class to class offerings. • Put an anonymous suggestions/concerns box in the office so students feel comfortable sharing their concerns about teachers. • Use students as school leaders – students motivating students. • Give students flyers to distribute to friends, community members, and local businesses. • Create learning activities in the infant/toddler room so parents don’t feel they’re “wasting time ” when it’s slow.
