  2. Congrats! You’re a winner!* *In 2012…now you’re a judge. You are important! You will be a judge in a competition that demonstrates the very best examples of innovation, planning, production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.

  4. 1. Before Judging 1. Log into the AASHTO Portal. 2. Were the entries received by July 12, 5:00 p.m. CST? 3. Are the entries submitted in the correct category? 4. Were the entry rules followed? 5. Is there only one entry per state, per category? #transcomm2013

  5. 2. Gather Your Team 1. Form a three-member judging panel. 2. Search for a professional from: the private sector, the public sector, someone from the target audience. 3. Review the “Responsibilities of Individual Judges” sheet. #transcomm2013

  6. Responsibilities of Individual Judges 1. Complete a judges form for each entry. 2. Read the entry form. 3. Inspect each entry. 4. Provide scores and add your comments for each criteria. 7. Comments are required. 8. Questions? Ask the submitting state. #transcomm2013

  7. 3. During Judging 1. Judging must be completed by July 31. 2. Collect the score sheets. 3. Make sure each judge has included comments.

  8. 4. After Judging 1. Verify the accuracy of the scores by double checking everything. 2. Prepare an Excel spreadsheet that tallies the three judges’ scores. 3. By August 2, email to meadow.bailey@alaska.gov the following: • Completed score sheets • Excel spreadsheet with judges’ scores • Identification of the winning state #transcomm2013

Remember the Important Dates • Eligibility Period - Entries must have appeared, aired, been published, substantially revised, or event held between May 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013. • Entry Deadline - Entries must be posted to the AASHTO portal no later than 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, Friday, July 12, 2013. • Jurying - The jurying period begins Friday, July 19 and ends Wednesday, July 31, 2013. • Completed judge's forms are due to the Awards Committee Chair by Friday, August 2, 2013. • Winners Announced - Winners will be announced Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Awards Luncheon at TransComm 2013 in Grand Rapids.
