Biblical References • Why question Jesus about the Sabbath? • King David Story (1 Samuel 21:1) – David ate the consecrated bread on the Sabbath • Priests sacrifice on Sabbath Numbers 18:9-10 – priests can sacrifice on the Sabbath • Lord of the Sabbath – Jesus has the right to direct Sabbath adherence

  4. Biblical References • Matthew 12:7 is from Hosea 6:6 • 7 "But if you had known what this means, 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. (Matt. 12:7 NAU) • 6 For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. (Hos. 6:6 NAU) • Following God’s Laws is more important then sacrificing • Better to not break the Laws opposed to breaking God’s Law then asking for forgiveness
