  3. Customs of the Day • Kiss • Lower status kisses the hand • Superior status kisses on the cheek • Only between friends • Carrying a knife/sword • Chop wood • Prepare food • Messiah (Jesus view) • Reveal the hidden truths of God’ word

  4. Why was Jesus arrested? • λῃστὴνrobber, highwayman, bandit, revolutionary, insurrectionist, guerrilla • Best translation: revolutionary, insurrectionist

  5. For us Today • Jesus teaches • Non-violence, non-retaliation, love enemy – no matter what • No negative reaction • Scripture must be fulfilled • “Walk the walk” • Do you “walk the walk?” • Why is it so hard to do? • Follow Jesus’ example
