The EPEAT Ecolabel and UN Global Compact The EPEAT Program offers strong support for: Principles 8 which undertakes to promote greater environmental responsibility Principle 9 which promotes diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies Ten Principles, all drawn from key UN Conventions and Declarations in four areas: 1) human rights; 2) labour; 3) environment; 4) anti-corruption.   9. EPEAT and SDG 8 EPEAT criteria promotes more transparent supply chains which offers support for SDG 8.8. Goal 8.8 protect labor rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women and migrants and those in precarious employment. • EPEAT criteria promotes supply chain transparency and reporting. Increased transparency across supply chains is a predicate for address human rights abuses and protecting labour rights, and ensuring safe and hospitable labor environments. August 2019 9

EPEAT and SDG 11 Goal 11.6 by 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality, municipal and other waste management • Numerous cities across the globe utilize EPEAT, and ICLEI works to promote use of EPEAT amongst its global community of cities. Use of EPEAT reduces the impact of IT products purchased at a municipal level. • EPEAT criteria addressing environmental impacts such as material waste, energy usage and GHG emissions, which are outlined in Target 11.6 and in Indicator 11.6.1. • EPEAT criteria also ensure products and packaging are designed for ease of recycling so that when the products are at end of life, they don’t become part of the landfill. EPEAT and SDG 12 Goal 12.5 by 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse • Products registered on EPEAT are 90% recyclable and use packaging that is 90% recyclable.  • The EPEAT criteria also ensure products and packaging are designed for ease of recycling so that when the products are at end of life, they don’t become part of the landfill. EPEAT and SDG 12 Goal 12.6encourage companies, especially large and trans- national companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle. • Companies that register EPEAT products must provide public annual reporting on sustainability practices according to the GRI, as well as set future goals and objectives to achieve even better environmental corporate performance. Goal 12.7 promote public procurement practices that are sustainable in accordance with national policies and priorities • EPEAT is a centralized resource that aggregates thousands of more sustainable IT products so that governments, companies, and consumers can reach sustainable purchasing goals. EPEAT is cited in hundreds of public and private sustainable procurement contracts. August 2019 12
