  1. Walt Disney ! Created By: Chloe Gilmore The creator of Mickey and Disneyland and Disney World.

  2. Childhood! Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5,1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Walt was the fourth of five children. There was 4 boys and 1 girls. Walter's dad's name is Elias Disney. He is an Irish-Canadian. Walter's mom's name is Flora Call Disney. She is a German-American descent.

  3. Drawing! When he was 7 years old he sold small sketches. Walt hated school work so he doodled instead. He loved art so much he showed this by his sister, Ruth, helping paint the side of the house with tar.

  4. School! Walt attended McKinely High School and he did drawing and photography. He also helped the school paper. At night he attended Academy of Fine Arts.

  5. Family (uncle)! Walt's uncle Mike Martin was an train engineer. Mike's route is Fort Madison, Iwoa, and Marceline. In the summer Walt helped out at the railroad. His job was to sell newspapers, popcorn, and soda to the travelers.

  6. Adulthood! In the fall of 1918 Walt Disney tried to enlist for military, but he was too young. So he joined Red Cross and was sent over France. His ambulance was covered not with camo but with Disney Cartoons.

  7. Jobs! Home from France, his brother, Ray, got Walt a job at Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio. Disney worked at the Kansas City Film Ad Company. Disney started doing handdrawn cel-animation. Walt decided to open his own animation. Fred Harmen was his first employee. Walt, Roy Disney, and Iweks started the studio, the Disney Brothers Studio. Here they invented more cartoon characters.

  8. Fact!! Walt loved to perform. He loved to intertain his friends and would tell his classmates stories. Also Walt would sneak out of the house and perorm skits at local theaters.

  9. Lillian Bound and daughters! 1925- Lillian Bound was hired as an artist. Lillian and Walt got married July 13,1925 and had two daughters, named, Daine and Sharon. Walt had no temper was very loving and understanding, your typical family guy.

  10. Tragic! He had moved his parents. Then 1938 his mom died accidently. He felt a lot of guilt and this haunted him for the rest of his life.

  11. Sad news! 1966- Walt was diagnosed with lung cancer. On December 15, 1966 Walt Disney died at the age of 65. Disney was cremated and his ashes are at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.

  12. Achievements! Three years after he was married he created Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse's screen debut was Steamboat Willie. Steamboat Willie was the first synchronized sound cartoon (Novemeber 18, 1928). 1932- Flowers and Trees won an academy award.

  13. Achievements! 1937- The old mill was released. Also Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released. Next five years Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi was released.

  14. Achievements! 1950-Mickey Mouse Club was a popular favorite. 1954-started television on production. 1955-his dream came true when Disneyland Park opened. The park entertains more than 200 million people. 1961-made the first full-color program called, Wonderful World of Color.

  15. Achievements! 1961-California Institue of the Arts was founded. He made a new "Disney World." This took 52 months of actual construction. The Walt Disney World Resort included Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. 1965- personally directed design of EPCOT. Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971. EPCOT opened on October 8, 1982. Disney-MGM Studios opened up on May 1, 1989. Roy, Walt's brother had carried out his dream.

  16. Some words of encouragement! Walt once said, "It's the principal thing I hope to leave when I move on to a greener pastures. If I help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something." Walt is a legend because he made millions of people happy through his work.
