  1. Shoot day Evaluation

  2. How did we get ready for the shoot? • In the weeks before the shoot we used our lessons to try and strategically plan out and lost everything that we would possibly need for the day. • We each had a job to do, for example I took care of getting certain props and sanj designed and created posters for the walls of one of our sets while hollie and ava took care of ordering props that we didn’t already have. • This was so important to us as we wanted to pe prepeared for the day and have absolutely everything we could have needed. • We also needed to make sure that all of the arrangements for the dreamland set were perfectly planned out as this was a huge task for us and one that would effect timings if not done correctly.

  3. How did we feel when we woke up on the day? • Initially when I woke up on the day I was extremely nervous for the day ahead, other people had been doing shoots all week before us and had seemed really stressed out, so I was worrying it was an overwhelming experience instead of an enjoyable one, however the second we got into the studio everyone was calm and helped us do exactly what we needed to do and get started on filming. • We didn’t start the filming process staright away, this gave us a chance to breathe and take a while to set up, make sure we had everything and get our actress ready and prepped without rushing.

  4. How well preperared were we  • I think that overall, we were well prepeared, the only fault I think we had In this department was probably  the posters that we created and the ordering of the mannequin. We put ourselves through uneccisary stress.  • We left ordering the mannequin too late meaning we couldn’t take the pictures of it to place on the posters and design them, so we ended up doing all of this the night before the shoot and potentiall rushing  them, but they actually turned out perfect and we all loved them.

  5. What did the space look like beofre the shoot? • Before the shoot I was skeptical that we would be able to create the set we wanted to because the space was so plain and had equiptment everywhere. • I had seen so many other sets that had been built and filmed in the space, and it looked nothing like the videos, I didn’t realise how much work goes into creating a detailled and beuatiful set.

  6. How did we divide the roles on the shoot day? • Millie - I took on the role of the camera operator, this included things like setting up shots, changing lenses, focusing the camera, checking the exposure and much more. • Hollie - hollie took the role of taking care of our actress and making sure she was always happy and comfordable. • Sanj – sanjana was in charge of plyback and the I pad. • Ava – ava was making sure that all the set and props were always where they needed to be and organised behind the scenes.

  7. What do I think I did well? • On the morning of the shoot when luke asked me if I wanted to be camera operater I was anxious, I hadn't used a camera since last year when I was creating the opening sequence for my A1 coursework.  • Luke was really helpful and reminded me of what to do and then left me to it on a lot of the shoot and as the day went on, I got more and more comfordable with handling the camera and knowing what shots looked good and what levels of exposure complimented the shot well.

  8. What problems did we have? • One of the main problems that we had was time. Our main set the 'dremalnd set' was such a big thing to take on and although one hundred  percent worth it, it did affect our time slightly. • We filmed on this set up until about lunch and then we had to take it all down, wheel-barrow all the grass, flowers and moss out of the studio and clean all the floors before then being able to create our next set up. This took around forty minutes to an hour, this is about the amount of time we ran over by. However, when looking back at it, it was not an overly big deal that we ran over, we still managed to get everything we wanted, and we didn’t rush so we knew all the content was perfect.

  9. What was the most sucessful part of the shoot? • I think that one of the most successful parts of the shoot was once again the dreamland set, I have mentioned this quite a lot on this evaluation, this is because it was such a big project, and it was executed exactly how we wanted it.  • We were sceptical about all of the elements working together, the backdrop (weather to pick white or black), if the bubbles will look good or tacky and if the flowers would look natarual or fake. All these elements slotted together seamlessly and looked better than I ever imagined.

  10. What do I wish had gone better? • One of the things that I think could have been better is the way that we were planning out shots.  • Before the day we created storyboards but over time these ideas all changed, so when it came to the day of the shoot, and we didn’t just want generic shots we had to take the time to think about what we wanted and then take the time to set it up, this was wasting time and taking us too long, it also had an effect on the momentum of the day.

  11. Which part of the shoot did I enjoy the most? • My favourite part of the shoot was watching the dance, before the day we had only ever seen the dancers in a boring studio in joggers and hoodies.  • When we saw then dancing with the lighting, loud music, costumes and makeup the vibe was completely different and I loved watching it, the moves that we all created for the dancers were so perfectly fitted with the overall vibe of the song and they danced amazingly. I think that these shots will look great in the final edit.

  12. What am I most excited to see in te edit? • One of the main things that I'm excited to see in the edit are how all of the different sets came up on camera, for me the most exciting part of the shooting and creating process was the sets, I think that they were so fun to create and build and it really opened a new interest for me. • Although I was watching all of the shots take place through the moniters and seeing the sets through them, I still think when edited all together and seeing it only in front of me whilst it's not happening in real life will be a totally different vibe.

  13. How do I think we worked as a team? • I think that one of the thigs we did well was create the dreamland set, this set involve real grass and flowers and could have taken us hours and hoirs to assemble if we didn’t put in the effort. We all completely threw ourselves into it and created the whole set in under an hour and a hlf and it looked beautifull, we all loved it and were all so proud of it. • As well as that we all worked equally as hard on each of our roles and put in so much effort, we all wanted it to go amazingly and I think the shoot day really showed tht, we tried to keep a good pace and keep people motivated and I hope it pays off when we see the final product.

  14. Any lessons that I have learned for next time? • If I were to do this a second time around, I would probably take on a different role, as much as I enjoyed being the camera operator, I think that Avas role of taking care of sets and props would also be something that I would enjoy.  • As I said, I loved helping bring the sets to life and I want to do this more, and if I did it again, I would take the sets even further and see what I am capable of creating.
