Course Structure First semester, Michaelmas, and second semester, Hilary Module structure Modules are nine weeks in duration, including study week (week 7) Eight weeks, 3 lectures/week = 24 lectures Plus associated coursework/continual assessment A couple of intensive modules run over two/three weeks at the end of semesters Module examinations take place in April (no repeat/special exams) Exam dates issued by Exams Office and dates will not be available until February/March Four month research project commences late April, finishes end August

    4. SEMESTER 1 SUBJECTS FULL-TIME STUDENTS 2009/10 In the first semester, candidates must take modules A1 and A2 along with four other modules from options B1 to B10: Compulsory A1. Civil Engineering Management – 10 ECTS A2. Dissertation Phase 1 - Research Methods – 10 ECTS Options B1. Geotechnical Engineering – 5 ECTS B3. Introduction to Transportation Engineering – 5 ECTS B4. Engineering Hydrology – 5 ECTS B5. Introduction to Environmental Analysis – 5 ECTS B6. Environmental Engineering – 5 ECTS B7. Transport Modelling – 5 ECTS B8. Advanced Structural Analysis – 5 ECTS (Intensive modular, wks 10–12) B9. Structural Dynamics & Earthquake Engng – 5 ECTS (Intensive, wks 10–12) B10. Renewable Energy 1– 5 ECTS
