  1. South Somerset Mind Open Day 2011 Health and Wellbeing service for the local community

  2. Mission statement “South Somerset Mind works towards a society where individuals who have mental health problems are accepted and included.  We actively promote better mental health through all our projects and services and have a holistic approach to well being and recovery”.

  3. Who we are • South Somerset Mind is located in Yeovil and we currently deliver services in: • Yeovil and surrounding towns, • Mendip • North Dorset • We are developing our work with other Local Minds to cover the whole of Somerset. • South Somerset Mind is a Local Mind Association (LMA) affiliated with Mind www.mind.org.uk but is run as an independent charity which responds directly to local need and gaps in service provision. • The LMA undergoes the rigours of a 3 yearly assessment of the quality of it’s service “Quality Management in Mind”. • The LMA has it’s own Mission and Strategic aims however these align to Minds aims and values..

  4. Minds aims and values • Change society: Mind influences and changes public attitudes and government policy and practice towards people with mental distress. • Provide support: Mind helps people to take control of their mental health. We do this to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives, and play their full part in society. • Give people a voice: The needs and experiences of people with mental distress drive our work and we make sure their voice is heard. We will champion the right of people with direct experience of mental distress to have a voice and be heard. • Create mentally healthy communities: Mind works with the local Mind association network and other partners to improve the delivery of services for people experiencing mental distress.

  5. SERVICE USER COMMENTS “It gives me the incentive to explore what’s available to me” “I have built up my confidence and overcome my nervousness, I can now enter a room of people on my own and participate in different activities.” “It’s a routine that I enjoy, to visit the centre every Tuesday and Wednesday - it gives me focus and allows me to concentrate on my Wellbeing”
