Multi-layered: Why? • A navigation mesh for path planning and crowd simulation • Existing automatic+exact navigation meshesonly work in 2D • Many realistic environments consist of multiple connected layers We need amulti-layered navigation mesh
Our navigation mesh • We build the medial axisof a multi-layered environment, incrementally • Build the medial axis of each 2D layer • Merge the medial axes around the connections • Construction is fast and automatic!
Our navigation mesh • We add closest-point annotations • The multi-layered Explicit Corridor Map (ECM) • Efficient routing • Flexible real-time steering • Short/smooth paths with clearance • … • See you tomorrow! • Interactive session ThAPT10 • 08:00 – 09:30, Golden Gate Room
