  2. When? Occurred in the early XIX. the celebrated date is September 7, 1822. On this date, happened the episode called "Ipirangas's Scream". In this date, on the banks of the creek Ipiranga (São Paulo-SP), Prince Regent D.Pedro I pronounced his sentence: "Independence or Death!".

  3. Why? In Setember 7 of 1822, D. Pedro I returned from Santos, stopped at the Ipiranga's Bank. D. Pedro I received a letter from his father giving him orders to return to Portugal. Driven by circumstances, D. Pedro I Broke the bonds of political union with Portugal.

  4. What happened? Getting the Southeast, independence from other regions of Brazil was conquered quickly. Without an army and without a navy, it became necessary foreign officers to command them. Thus ended the Portuguese resistance in Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí and Pará.

  5. Consequence Preserve the "status" agro-export elites, who have preserved and expanded their political privileges, economic and social. slavery was maintained, as well as estates, production of raw materials for export.

  6. Why was it important? It was important because it made Brazil an independent empire
