  3. HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Schedule • Schools must administer the exams as follows: • Reading onApril 7 • Writing onApril 8 • Mathematics onApril 9 • Regulation does not permit variations on this schedule.

  4. HSGQE Proctor Check Your Test Materials For proctors who prepare test materials: • Test Administration Directions • Test books for your testing group • Precode labels or district/school labels for your testing group • “Do Not Score” labels • “Do Not Disturb” sign (not provided by DRC)

For each student: • Content area test book designated for the day of testing • Ruler (white) • Protractor • Sharpened No. 2 pencil with eraser (no mechanical pencils) • Extra erasers • Scratch paper for writing and mathematics tests • Optional – Book to read upon completion of the test # 2

HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Administration Length of Exam • The Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE and HSGQE Retest will take approximately two to four hours per day for most students. • The test is not timed. Recommended Testing Schedule • Take a 2 minute stretch break after the first 60 minutes of testing. • Take a 10-15 minute break after the next 60 minutes of testing.

HSGQE Proctor Plan Your Testing Schedule • Review Test Administration Directions in advance. • Do not read test items (either to yourself, to students, or to another individual) unless it is required to provide a documented accommodation to an individual or student group. • Allow an additional 10 minutes to fill in student-identifying information for those students who do not have precode labels.

  8. HSGQE Proctor Use Standardized Administration Procedures • One proctor per 30 students is required for the HSGQE. • Follow the instructions exactly to ensure similar testing conditions in all classrooms. • Read all text preceded by the “Say” bubble exactly as written. SAY:

  9. HSGQE Proctor Organize Your School Test Center • Cover or remove instructional materials. (The district must determine what items can be SAFELY removed or covered.) • Plan extra time for distribution and collection of test materials. • Plan seating arrangements. • Create seating chart if necessary. • Make sure there is proper lighting. • Eliminate distractions. • Use a “Do Not Disturb” sign.

HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Accommodated Materials • Large Print Test Books (separate by subject) • Braille Test Books (separate by subject) • Audiotapes • Writing and Mathematics for Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE • Reading (EED approved Modified HSGQE ONLY), Writing, and Mathematics for HSGQE Retest {Transcribers will be required to transcribe student’s responses into a FormF01 (Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE) or F15 (HSGQE Retest)test book.}

HSGQE Proctor Gr. 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Accommodated Materials • Large Print and Braille Math Books have had items adjusted to accommodated the Large Print and Braille rulers. • The Test Administration Directions do not include directions for the large print and Braille sample items. Note is included with the Braille and Large Print Math Test Books.

HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Accommodated Materials • If a student uses a Large Print, Braille, or audio version of the test, or has keyboarded his/her responses, school staff must transcribe verbatim the student’s responses into a standard Form F01 (Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE) /Form F15 (HSGQE Retest) test book. • Test books must bear the signature(s) of the transcriber(s) and the transcription date on the inside front cover. • It’s NOT permissible to insert, adhere, staple, or clip a keyboarded response into a test book.

  14. HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Labeling Test Books • Two sets of precode labels will be produced for students taking the Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE. One should be placed on the reading test book and the other should be placed on the writing/mathematics test book. • The HSGQE Retest is a single book. One precode label is provided. • All test books must have a label applied before the test books are used by students. • Test books that do not have a precode label or district/school label will be considered unused and will NOT be scored.

  16. HSGQE Proctor Grade 10 SBA-HSGQE & HSGQE Retest Tracking of Materials • On each day of testing, only the secure materials needed for that day should be checked out. • If secure materials are not returned, document this in the “Reason if Item is not Returned” section on the school security checklist with as many details as are known. • You may customize the form provided by DRC or use your own form. • Immediately after testing, check in all secure test materials.

HSGQE Proctor Spring 2009 School Return of Materials After testing is complete, check the following: • A precode label or district/school label is applied to all test books that are to be scored. • The label corresponds with the district, school, and test to which the scores should be attributed. • The “Teacher’s Use Only” field is filled in with any applicable codes. • NOTE: Modified tests are not scored. Check with your DTC BEFORE you fill in this bubble. • Writing and mathematics reference sheets have been removed. • All loose paper has been removed from the test books.
